Message From Your PTA President

We continue to use the theme “BRIDGES” which is particularly relevant as we bridge from a traditional calendar to a year-round calendar. We plan to keep the traditions which are important to HSES and while looking at new ways to support the students, parents, teachers and staff here at Holly Springs Elementary School.

What Does the Holly Springs Elementary School PTA Do???

O' Holly Night Cultural Arts Programs (3-4/year) Character Education Program T-shirts & Spirit wear at nearly cost prices
Student Store
(Wed. & Fri. mornings)
5th Grade Safety Patrol Teacher Appreciation Grounds Beautification
Hospitality/Dinners before PTA Meetings Bi-Monthly Newsletter Reflections Art Program Participation & Awards School Book Fair
Read-A-Thon & Turn Off TV Week Volunteer Coordination for PTA/School Events School Directory (Free to PTA Members) Talent Show
HSES Night at Java Divine HSES Night at JellyBeans Wake Education Partnership Liaison Student Improvement Team Representatives

In addition to the many programs and events sponsored by the PTA, we also raise funds for specific school projects and needed items. This year, we will fulfill the list of projects which began in the 2006-2007. Specifically we are looking to add Shade Shelters for the playground.

How Does the PTA Do It?

It takes volunteers, commitment, planning and money to make it all happen. Most of all it takes the support of the parents, students, staff and administrators. The PTA is here to work for every child. As such, I hope every parent, grandparent, guardian, or adult family member can join the PTA and volunteer a small amount of his/her time to our school. This could include volunteering to help count box tops, assisting with the student store, making copies, helping with O’Holly Night, etc. Whatever time you can offer is truly appreciated! It takes many things to make all the PTA programs work and run smoothly, but mostly it takes YOU!

There will be four PTA General Membership Meeting this year:

  • Thursday, August 2, 2007 (w/HSES Open House)
  • Thursday, October 18, 2007 (w/2nd Grade Program)
  • Thursday, March 20, 2008 (w/Talent Show)
  • Thursday, May 22, 2008 (w/Chorus)

In closing, I’m proud to be serving as the HSES PTA President this year. Holly Springs Elementary is a terrific school with committed, professional teachers and administrators, wonderful students, and involved parents. I look forward to seeing you at the PTA meetings and events.

Cheetah Proud,
Christine Kelly, P.T.A. President
